My Background:
“You can take the girl out of newspapers, but you can’t take the newspaper out of the girl.”
It’s true.
I was a photojournalist traveling throughout the state of Mississippi for over 13 years.
It was a dream job for me, and it helped shape my love affair with people.
In 2010, I was laid off from the state newspaper amid the ever-changing shake ups in the newspaper industry.
Just a couple months later, I embarked on my most challenging career to date-being a freelance photojournalist and small business owner.
Photojournalism is not just a job…….. it’s a state of mind.
If you strip away the fancy cameras, expensive lights and manipulative software you have three things-the photographer, the subject and the interaction between the two.
It’s that connection to people and the ability to capture it that keeps me inspired.
By the grace of God, my camera will continue to take me to places unknown.
My Home Base:
Our studio is located in the historic district of downtown Brandon, Mississippi (near the Jackson metro area). We travel near and far to make photo shoots happen though….so give us a call! (601-927-8620)
My Philosophy:
The approach I take to photography is simple. Photograph real people doing real things. Let the photograph be a reflection of the experience and stir an emotion from the viewer.
I shoot with both natural and studio lighting to create a once in a lifetime image.
My Support:
Since becoming a wife and mother, my life and priorities have completely changed. My children belly laughing out loud is the best sound on Earth. My heart overflows with love for my family. I cannot thank my husband enough for putting up with late night editing and 10 hour work days.
And last, I want to thank my family, friends and clients for always believing in me. Your encouragement and support means more than you will ever know.
