#JXNStands is a project where residents of and visitors to Mississippi’s capital city assumed the role of a monument to write down and stand proudly for whatever value, belief,or idea they believe belonging in the public square. The Center for Art & Public Exchange at the Mississippi Museum of Art and Ourglass Media partnered with area photographers to produce a visual record of what individuals choose to stand for at this moment in the state’s and city’s history. I photographed HeArtworks’ clients at Stewpot Community Center in downtown Jackson, Mississippi for the project. The images were published online and in gallery at the Mississippi Museum of Art’s CAPE showing.
